Mera Safar Project.
Mera Safar: Stories of Strength and Hope
This project is proudly supported by the VCS Alliance – Healthy Minds: Untold Stories Grant.
Through this initiative, we’ve created a space to share the mental health journeys of incredible women who attend WomenZone.
Each participant has chosen to share snippets of their personal experiences—moments of challenge, resilience, and growth to help others who may feel alone or unsure where to turn.
Why This Matters
- Reducing Stigma
Mental health is still heavily stigmatized in many communities. Myths and stereotypes often prevent people from seeking help or supporting others. Our podcasts aim to break these barriers, challenge misconceptions, and foster understanding. - Raising Awareness
Language around mental health often doesn’t align with cultural and religious beliefs about wellbeing. Our podcasts are delivered by voices from these very communities, making the conversation relatable and meaningful. - Empowering Women
Led by South Asian women with lived experience, this project is about ownership and empowerment. We provide space, encouragement, and resources—but the stories and ideas come from them. - Building Community
Peer support is at the heart of WomenZone. Through shared experiences, we create belonging, understanding, and strength.
🎧 Listen to our podcasts and take a moment to reflect on Mera Safar—a journey of courage, connection, and hope.

Hi, my name is Asma Shaan, I was a volunteer for a few months at the Kitchen and now I’m a member of the staff. I enjoy coming to WomenZone because it’s a friendly environment and love the energy of the centre.
