Steps to Women’s Health
Steps to Women’s Health funded by Department for Culture Media and Sport aims to improve the lives of women and girls through peer support activities. The programme predominantly targets BME women who are experiencing isolation and facing issues known to lead to and poor health and wellbeing. In particular those who are at risk of developing long term health problems and nee access to effective peer support, education and accessible information, physical activities as well as mental health support to enable lifestyle change. The programme also targets women who have developed long term health problems and are at risk of not only deteriorating physical health but also need support to manage their mental health more effectively.
So far we have empowered at least 180 BME women to manage and improve their own health and wellbeing through a number of activities including health and wellbeing activities, healthy eating, information and advice sessions, English classes, relaxation therapies, trips to places of interest and volunteering opportunities.
